Is Math Tutoring A Way To Get Good Grades?

Is Math Tutoring A Way To Get Good Grades? In the world of education, math tutoring is a necessity. All students want to be at the top of their class so they are doing whatever it takes to be prepared for their future goals. However, some students do not have the skills or time required to master the basics of the subject. As a result, it is up to teachers and administrators to fill this gap. There are many ways to deal with bad math students. Some teachers, such as those from elementary schools, know how to handle these problems. When this is the case, it is important to find a tutor to help with the problem. The third option, and most popular, is to go the traditional route of having the student's mother or grandmother take care of the tutoring.Unfortunately, teachers cannot always depend on their own experiences to teach students in the classroom. They might have taught a student in another class and know the teacher's philosophies. This might be difficult to do when the student's m other or grandmother does not understand math and what it means.TU has been developed in order to meet this need. It was developed by The Education Trust in partnership with the City University of New York to provide educational tutoring to students in grades K-12.TU is a tool that helps people to learn math. Using online applications, students can take the test that they need to take in order to pass. Then, these students will be matched up with a tutor, either a registered teacher or someone who has volunteered their time to do the tutoring.Students who take tutoring can earn a certificate that shows that they are the best students in their home schools and the tutors can earn a certificate showing that they have earned the best grades. This is a very impressive achievement for the individual student. In addition, tutors can use the tutoring certificates to demonstrate their ability to develop and give classes to students who do not have the required skill to teach the subject.Tut oring is not a quick fix for the problem of bad math. It will take time for the student to get better. However, the benefits are worth the time and effort. All students are in a position to succeed when they are prepared with a solid education in math.

How to Volunteer with the Tutorfair Foundation

How to Volunteer with the Tutorfair Foundation Volunteering is the answer for so many people with an interest or experience in education. We’re all aware that there are young people out there who could use our help, and that spending some time working in schools can have a large impact and can be extremely rewarding. But where to start? What kind of opportunities are out there and how can you get involved? Whether you’re an experienced tutor looking to share your skills or a student considering a career in teaching, The Tutorfair Foundation might have something that’s just right for you. Who are we? The Tutorfair Foundation is the charitable wing of Tutorfair â€" an online marketplace for private tutoring. Funded by donations from paying clients of Tutorfair, we work with volunteers to provide support to students from a broad range of backgrounds that might not otherwise have access to the help. We hope that by improving access to quality tutoring, we can make a positive contribution to the fight against educational inequality â€" one student at a time. What are we up to? This year, we’ll be running in-school tutoring in London, home visits in Birmingham and online opportunities everywhere else. “In-school” programmes involve our volunteers tutoring students in schools where the student population is more than 50% pupil premium eligible. This might involve working in a classroom (supporting a qualified teacher) or engaging students one-to-one or in small groups outside of lessons. Where we think there will be good engagement, we’ll work with schools to set up an after school club for those students who are staying behind to get on top of their homework. “Online” volunteering takes place using our Tutorfair On-Demand service. This is a text-and-image based platform available for free to eligible schools, whose students can log in during homework hours to post questions and topics they’re struggling with. If you’re volunteering at that time, you’ll see the questions being posted and be able to connect instantly with the student to help them through their problem. We have in-school programmes underway already this year in London, with opportunities available for volunteers to tutor everything from GCSE Maths to BTEC Health Social Care. We’re also looking for volunteers to get involved in Birmingham, where we’re offering help to a number of students who have been suffering from bullying. Tutorfair On-Demand will launch at the end of October, so if you’re looking to start volunteering, there’s plenty of ways to get involved! What can you expect when you volunteer? Every volunteer’s experience will be different, but there are a few things you can expect when you decide to get involved. Minimum commitment of 10 hours: usually 1 hour a week for 10 weeks.  Tutors are welcome to complete their 10 hours and decide whether to continue later on! Training and free DBS check: this is dependent on the tutor's level of experience Support from our programme managers: depending on how long tutors are with us, we’ll also do observations; providing feedback and development opportunities throughout your placement. Want to get involved? Here's how to sign up! If you’re already a tutor with Tutorfair, all of our volunteering opportunities will appear on your profile in the “opportunities” section. If you’re not already a tutor with Tutorfair, you can register your interest here  and someone from the team will get in touch to discuss the opportunities with you. We currently have opportunities in London and Birmingham. For in-school opportunities, if you have lots of experience, we’ll be able to get you a DBS check and start you straight away. If you have less experience, we’ll invite you to one of our training sessions. Some of our placements are only available to volunteers with some tutoring experience, but we have lots of opportunities available for people with no experience looking for a way into education. If you’re applying to tutor online, we’ll train you online. This will allow you to volunteer much more flexibly â€" agreeing availability in advance for any time between 6 and 9pm on weekdays and 5 and 8pm on weekends. You can support students who need help from wherever you are â€" home, work or university. For any enquiries please email: foundation@tutorfair.com

Ditch Your Alarm Clock for Foreign Language Distance Education Courses

Ditch Your Alarm Clock for Foreign Language Distance Education Courses Ditch Your Alarm Clock for Foreign Language Distance Education Courses Online learning is not the next big thing, it is the now big thing. â€"D. AbernathyWhat if I could show you a way to shut down that pesky alarm clock once and for all? What if you could stop hitting the snooze button every morning before you finally drag yourself out of your warm, comfy bed to go to your language class? What if I told you that you wouldnt have to make your life revolve around any schedule except your own?Would you be hanging on my every word, waiting for me to spill the beans?Of course you would! Its your language programâ€"why not have it on your schedule?I hear you wondering how you can possibly do that. But the truth is, its pretty simple:  Distance education. It brings language learning to youâ€"on your terms and in your time.If youre interested in a foreign language degree or  looking for the opportunity to take  courses from a college (even if youre not  after college credits), distance education is the way to do that.Distance learning  is different from other onli ne learning in that its associated with colleges and universities and often involves degrees or certifications.Worried youre too old to go back to school, or that youve missed your chance? Consider the 81-year-old Chinese woman who got her bachelors degree through distance learning. (Interestingly enough, completely aside from this, she also taught herself to speak multiple foreign languagesâ€"the degree was in e-commerce.)She certainly achieved her goalâ€"and in the comfort of her own home!If youre worried you wont be able to find a great distance language program, worry no more. Theres something for everyone, especially where foreign languages are concerned. Were a world full of communicators! The first step in finding the perfect program is examining your options.Weve got some good ones here, so lets check them out and get you started! Why Distance Learning WorksDistance learning continues to be a growing trend for many reasons. Honestly, were all so pressed for time and juggle such crazy schedules that making it to another commitmentâ€"even a language class that we loveâ€"is often just too difficult.Distance-learning courses can be much more flexible with regards to scheduling and space. Okay, so you may not want to ditch that alarm clock completely yet, as this doesnt mean that there are never any time or course limitations whatsoever, but you may find that online language courses have fewer limitations due to being online. Many programs still have very specific degree requirements, so youll want to check out the particulars of each course at registration and do your research ahead of time. However, some courses available through distance learning dont adhere to a traditional semester and can be taken all year round, over the summer or at other times.More flexibility means more likelihood of choosing the language classes that are a perfect  match for you.  No more taking a course that’s too advanced or one thats a bit basic just because it was the only one available when you were, or missing out on the rarer language you really wanted to take because it clashes with another requirement. And distance learning eliminates the need to travel. No more going to learningâ€"now, learning comes to you! Whats not to love? How to Maximize Your Distance Learning ExperienceWhether the course you choose focuses on independent study (you do the work without any online classmates) or features a virtual classroom where interaction with other learners is an option, try to participate as much as possible.Submit materials for critique, ask questions and take part in online discussions. Communicate with your teacher and fellow students to get the most out of the experience. After all, language is all about communication.  The discussion sessions in many online courses provide loads of information. Others may be grappling with the same grammar issues you are, so take note when relevant topics come up.You all share a passion for the language youre studyin g, so see the friendship potential in your classmates. Who knows? You may find a great online study partner for post-class learning. Be friendly and learn from your peers.Treat the course just like you would a real-life class. Yes, I know youll probably be wearing yoga pants or maybe even your PJs when you log on, but dress code aside, approach distance learning as you would any other class. Be prepared to learn and  do any assigned homework, and if you’re in a virtual setting with other learners, be sure to arrive on time.Class instructors are usually available through a contact link or email. Use it.  If youre having a grammar or vocabulary issue or just have questions, speak up! Theyre generally quick to respond and you may bring up something that needs further classroom discussion. Chances are that if youve got questions, others do, too!Practice your language outside of the course on your own time with FluentU, so you can put what youre learning into practice. 5 physical activities for kids adverse to sports - TutorNerds

5 physical activities for kids adverse to sports - TutorNerds After school activities: 5 physical activities for kids adverse to sports Its important for kids to get exercise on a regular basis even during the cold winter months. Traditionally, students would participate in an after school sport sponsored by the school or local community. Although these are great opportunities for many students, some kids are just not that into organized sports and end up on the sidelines without a chance to socialize or exercise. Fortunately, there are tons of physical activities out there for kids who dont like sports. 1.   Swimming lessons Swimming lessons are great for younger kids because it gives them a chance to learn valuable coordination and water safety skills while also allowing them to get out all of their extra energy. Of course, kids cant just jump into the pool without knowing basic safety skills that they learn from a private instructor but, once they have those skills, they have a great alternative to playing on an organized team. Swimmers can work on their stroke at their pace, and either swims at an outdoor or indoor pool depending on the time of year. Swimming is also a relaxing form of exercise that can help kids and teens manage their stress. 2. Yoga for kids Many fitness centers and studios now have yoga classes made just for kids and families. This is also a great alternative to playing on sports teams because it is a great way to relax and de-stress as kids start to progress through middle and high school and has all of those difficult exams to focus on. Yoga can be adjusted to all fitness and skill levels and is something that can be done indoors during these cold winter months (READ: Time Management: The Key to Success in Middle School). 3. Indoor gym workout Indoor gym workouts are getting more popular these days because most communities have at least one family-oriented gym or fitness center available to kids and teens. This is another great way for kids to work on their physical fitness in a climate controlled environment during the winter. Many gyms offer classes where students can pick and choose which type of physical activity they want to work on. Additionally, most gyms are open extended hours so kids wont have to worry about squeezing in their work out around their homework and study schedule. 4. Run club A lot of young students would love to be on the track and field team but just cant make the time commitment taking into consideration all the homework they have to complete. An excellent alternative is to join a community based running club where athletes can join in two or three days a week or as often as their school schedule allows. Students who feel they’re missing out on a little bit of competition will find opportunities to enter team races and shoot for a personal best or a prize in their age category. 5. Dance Dance lessons also provide an excellent physical fitness opportunity and combine that with creativity. Students who are interested in the arts and music may find that dance is the right exercise for them because it allows them to express themselves artistically while practicing a healthy exercise routine and making new friends. In short Whether kids play on an official school team or exercise outside of school; physical fitness is a major part of a well-rounded education. Also, students to exercise on a regular basis will have an easier time concentrating during extended homework sessions and younger kids will find it easier to behave if they dont have a ton of extra energy in the classroom.
